Acupuncture has its principles based in Traditional Chinese Medicine which is a complete healing art in itself. Traditional Chinese Medicine is holistic in the sense that it takes into consideration the mental, emotional and physical aspects of every individual and it treats the person based on how each aspect might be contributing to the disease. For example, the emotions are tightly interconnected with the organs in Chinese medicine. An example is the liver whose corresponding emotion is anger and if there is an excess of anger the liver is negatively impacted. In this case, we have to address the liver dysfunction but more importantly we have to address the core issue of anger.

Chinese medicine views the human body as a tightly interconnected whole with meridians or energy channels running throughout the entire body. Located along these meridians are hundreds of acupuncture points each serving a very specific purpose. Acupuncture treatments involve the insertion of fine needles into these acupuncture points with the purpose of re-establishing homeostasis in the body. Apart from being able to treat pathology and disease, acupuncture is also great for a general “tune-up” to bring one back into balance. People report feeling calm and energized after treatments.

At our clinic we combine acupuncture as part of our pain management, weight loss, hormone balancing and stress management programs.
